As part of their new cultural strategy plan, Waltham Forest Council asked for a series of simple and colour compliant illustrations that represented iconic landmarks across the borough — all to be laid out within the project’s tagline ‘Culture and Creativity for all’.
Key sites chosen were the Town Hall and Fellowship Square, the William Morris Gallery, the Walthamstow Wetlands, Lea Bridge Library, the Camille Walala shop fronts, the Leyton sign, the Hollow Ponds, the Alfred Hitchcock Hotel, Chingford Mount Clock, Epping Forest and the Regal Cinema.
The design was to be applied to banners, A5 Flyers and social assets in order to promote a survey for those living and working locally.
Following on from the survey, Waltham Forest commissioned me to create the Council’s Cultural Action Plan — both for digital distribution and a limited print run — which detailed and explored all their findings. The full report can be downloaded at the bottom of this page.
Clara Giraud from the Greater London Authority said this about the document: ”It is so exciting to see such a thorough, dynamic and relevant cultural strategy come out in Waltham Forest [....] Sharing this as a brilliant example of a series of complex ideas communicated in accessible, visual, powerful ways. Could all the reports, ever, please be this readable and digestible?!”
